![]() I find this a very common problem tbh that not may gsr fitters follow the hob instructions or just ignore the need for the barrier, i guess its why i get strange looks from some kitchen fitters/ designers when i insist on installing to the requirements. If the kitchen has been designed with draws under the hob you may loose the draws in this case. you dont want stored materials up against a metal surface that reaches high temps or the user (in this case a member of the family) buring there hand on the surface. It normally has to be fitted with a 20 - 50mm air gap from the bottom of the hob. ![]() when you fit a hob that does not have an oven underneath you normally need to fit a non combustable barrier to protect against fire risk and risk of the user burning themselves. ![]()
